NORTH KENSINGTON COMMUNITY YOUTH FESTIVAL IS BACK!
Last year youth services from Kensington & Chelsea held the North Kensington Community Youth Festival to bring the community together and show support for those affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster.
Due to its success the festival will be taking place again this year on Saturday 30th June 2018, from 12pm – 6pm, at the Westway Sports & Fitness Centre located at 1 Crowthorne Road, W10 6RP.
The festival which is a totally free event will include a 6-a-side football tournament, a talent competition showcasing a variety of artists, local talent, surprise guests and more.
Lead organisation for the North Kensington Community Youth Festival
Youth Action Alliance
Youth Action Alliance’s (YAA) mission is to combat social exclusion by developing the knowledge, self-esteem and confidence of young people and their communities in order for them to move from dependence to inter-dependence. We deliver detached youth work, targeted intervention, holiday playschemes, performing arts and sports programmes working throughout the community.
Our mission is to inspire children & young people to achieve their potential and make a positive difference to the communities in which we work. We are inclusive in all the work we do, providing a range of universal and targeted programmes to bring communities together and address some of the most pressing challenges facing young people in London including poverty, employability and education, physical and mental health and serious youth violence. We believe in working collaboratively with children & young people and other service providers to tackle these issues.
Epic CIC has been a key partner with Youth Action Alliance in ensuring the festival is one that celebrates the diverse make up and talents of the local residents, recognises the sensitivities required to respectfully honour those affected by the Grenfell Tower Fire and maintains excellent working relationships to bring the community together.
The Rugby Portobello Trust is a local youth charity that works with 5 – 19 year olds and will be hosting the chill out space out at NKCYF for attendees to relax and chill out in.

NKCYF was awarded a grant through Westway Trust’s Festivals Fund, which aims to support a diverse range of festivals that bring communities together and have a lasting impact on the local area and local people. Already this year, almost £90,000 has been awarded to community events just like NKCYF.
